Coping was the only language

anyone had.

I spent twenty years in healthcare. Senior roles, real responsibility, working alongside capable women at every level. And the whole time, something was going on that nobody was naming out loud.

Women were carrying enormous invisible loads. Hormonal change, shifting identity, relentless pressure. They were being praised for coping. But I could see what coping was costing them.

I could see it because I was doing exactly the same thing.

When perimenopause arrived I did not recognise it. Exhausted in a way I could not explain. Foggy in meetings I had run confidently for years. Still showing up. Still delivering. Still telling myself other people had it worse.

When I finally understood what was happening, the shift was not dramatic. It was quiet. One thing at a time. But it was real.

And it changed everything.

Beyond the credentials

Elissa Fire Walking

I am Australian, which probably explains the directness! I have lived in England long enough to appreciate a good cup of tea and a proper moan about the weather, but I have never quite lost the instinct to just say it straight.

I am married with two wonderful adult children who have both, at various points, politely suggested I am not as good at crochet as I think I am. They are probably right! I am learning. Slowly. With a lot of unpicking and a few choice words...

And then there is the fire walking. I have done two charity fire walks and I would do them again tomorrow. Not because I am fearless. Because I have learned, quite literally, what your mind is capable of when you stop letting fear make the decisions. That lesson shows up in every coaching session I run.

"To regret the past is to forfeit the future"

"To regret the past is to forfeit the future"

The philosophy behind everything I do. Not dwelling on what cannot be fixed. Just moving forward, one step at a time. Even when the ground is hot.

Rebuilding your energy and foundations first, because lasting change needs solid ground underneath it.

The gap between knowing what to do and actually being able to do it is almost never about information. It is about what is going on underneath. And that is exactly where coaching works.
